Architect of the Week | Adrian Smith


Well its that time of the week where we honor the brains behind some of the worlds best buildings. This weeks 'Architect of the Week' is presented to Adrian Smith. Adrian is an American architect whos most notable works are the current 'Worlds Tallest Building.' Adrian was the chief architect of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (Supported by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill Architects) which is 829.9m tall (2,733ft) and cost around £936,732,135 ($1.5 billion)!

Other than design the worlds tallest building, Adrian is also responsible for the Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai, the Pearl River Tower in Guangzhou, the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago as well as current projects of which are the Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan Tower in Baku, Azerbaijan.

So a pretty impressive portfolio from Adrian, but this is not all he has designed. Adrian has an even bigger and just as impressive portfolio, in 2006 he teamed up with Gordon Gill to form Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture.
