It is that time of the week again where I get to tell you what I think should be named as the building of the week! To commence this article then I am going to dive straight in and say that London's very own 'Container City' is the building of the week. The ArchitectWeekly team chose this inspiring project simply for it being so 'out there.' Devised by Urban Space Management, Container City is a 'innovative modular system that creates affordable accommodation for a range of uses.'
As you can see the entire project is made up of disused shipping containers. They have all been insulated, kitted out and are fully habitable, they even have a balcony constructed from the doors! Although this may be a slightly cramped lifestyle to contend with, it is surely going to be quite a novelty. The main target user happens to be students, which is an excellent idea since it seems a very interesting place to live. Not many people can say they live in a shipping container!
