We had to use Draftech for our house plans because it was the only option our builder provided. I see they have a lot of positive reviews, but I found them to be very slow and prone to missing details. When we first discussed the floor plan with the builder, we specified that we wanted the size to be around 2800-2900 sq. ft. The first draft came back at 3450 sq ft, so we had to spend two weeks condensing everything. Then we discovered that Draftech was using the wrong lot from the wrong street, one street over from ours. The size of the lot was the same, but shaped slightly differently, so we had to tweak the design to fit. After that, any change we wanted, no matter how minor, took 2 weeks to get an update back. This was during late 2020 so because of Covid, they would not meet in person. But what annoyed us the most was that they also would not meet via a video call to walk through the changes with us to make sure they had the instructions correct. So any time any detail was missed, no matter how small, it was two more weeks. The very last set of plans had a 6-week gap from the previous version. All in all, it took them about 4 months to be done. All of these delays were around the time that mortgage rates began to spike. Had we finished on schedule, our rate would have been a half a point lower, so it cost us a lot of money in that regard.
