We have been working with Leslie, Breck, Jill and the team for more than 2 years. They have designed a 5 home / outbuilding community using shipping containers. The designs are gorgeous.
More importantly, this team have kept us on track. As new developers, we have a lot to learn. The Three Squared team has taught us so much about the entire process – from design and development, to managing the permitting process. They have held our hands throughout this journey.

After having a bad experience with another shipping container home builder, a friend of mine said to call Three Squared Inc. And I told them my situation and if they can help with my home ideas. I have been very happy with the team of people working on my project and they aren’t afraid to tell you if something isn’t going to work or let’s try something that makes sense. I have learned so much about build houses and blue prints, engineering with out taking classes! I cannot wait to break ground!
My community development organization was planning to use cargo construction to create a new office and community hub in our neighborhood. We had done some preliminary modeling but needed real guidance on how to bring a project like this to life in the City of Detroit. We were introduced to Leslie from Three Squared by a mutual associate and it was clear from the first moments of our conversation that this was the firm we needed to work with. That was validated even more after meeting Brek, Jill, and the rest of the team. These folks are clear experts and leaders in Detroit and nationally when it comes to cargo container construction. They have gone above and beyond to be helpful to our project, guided us through our interactions with the city, and delivered us a beautiful product. I’d recommend anyone looking for architects consider Three Squared, and I’d say that if you want to use cargo construction in particular and you’re not considering them, then you’re not doing your due diligence.
My wife and I landed on Three Squared as we were weighing different architecture given their expertise and experience with steel frame builds and containers that aligned with our desired project to build a similar style home in Colorado. It didn’t take long to realize we made the right decision and have been very happy with our progress and results to this point now that we have a concept design and layout. Our process began with Rick who was friendly, informative, and timely, and that continued when we started working more closely with Breck, Jill, Bryce and team on the design and communication with local municipalities. They are an engaging and passionate group with the right experience and would be a pleasure to work with for any prospective customer whether local or otherwise (we’re from Colorado).
